Installing Tileboard on Walls:
-
Make sure the walls are clean, dry and free of loose paint, plaster or other materials. Lightly sand any glossy-painted walls or ceramic tile, then wipe them clean.
-
Apply LIQUID NAILS Brand Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive (LN-903) over the entire back of the panel. Using a 1/8-inch v-notched trowel, spread the wall adhesive out to the edges and corners of the panel.
-
Wait five minutes (no more than 15) and then press the panel into place so that good contact is made between the wall adhesive and the wall.
-
Check and re-press each panel, especially the edges, every 15 minutes for the first hour.
-
Allow the wall adhesive to dry overnight. For bathrooms, caulk all seams with 100% pure silicone sealant. (Do NOT use a siliconized acrylic latex caulk.) Also caulk around all fixtures.
-
If moldings are used, put a small bead of sealant inside the molding channel and fit the molding onto the panel.
Installing Decorative Paneling on Walls:
-
Make sure the walls are clean, dry and free of loose paint, plaster or other materials. Lightly sand any glossy-painted walls or ceramic tile, then wipe them clean.
-
Apply a ¼-inch bead of LIQUID NAILS Brand Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive (LN-903) around the perimeter of the back of the panel about one inch from the edges.
-
Apply more wall adhesive in the center of the panel in the shape of a large “X.”
-
Press the panel into place, and immediately pull it back away from the wall. After one minute, press the panel back into place.
Installing Ceiling Panels:
-
Make sure the existing ceiling is structurally sound, clean and dry before installation. Plaster, cement or mortar must be fully cured before wall adhesive is applied.
-
Apply one two-inch ball of LIQUID NAILS Brand Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive (LN-903) (at least ¾-inch thick) per square foot of panel. This can be done with either a cartridge and caulking gun or the can grade wall adhesive and a spatula.
-
Press the tile into place within 20 minutes.
-
Remove the first tile immediately to check the wall adhesive application. About 50% of the tile should be covered with wall adhesive after the tile has been pressed into place. The wall adhesive should then be about 1/8-inch thick and four inches in diameter.
-
Replace the first tile and repeat the installation process for each remaining tile.
Note: There is no need to check the wall adhesive application on each individual tile as long as the first tile had the proper coverage.
